Woodland Discovery Camp is a unique 5-day residential summer camp designed for children ages 10–12 who are eager to explore, learn, and create unforgettable memories outdoors.
Located at Rancho Alegre, set amidst the breathtaking beauty of the Santa Ynez Valley, this camp offers a perfect mix of environmental education, natural sciences, and classic summer camp fun.
From hands-on wildlife exploration and nature hikes to campfire storytelling and team-building games, every moment is designed to inspire curiosity, foster friendships, and ignite a lifelong love for the great outdoors.
What We Offer:
- A Safe, Fun Environment: Our experienced team of naturalists, counselors, and our camp director are committed to provide a secure and welcoming atmosphere.Everyone staff member is First AId, CPR, and program trained, ensuring safety is a top priority.
- Top-Notch Facilities: Comfortable air conditioned dorms, a dining hall with delicious fresh cooked meals, a swimming pool, ADA access and access to 217 acres of trails.
- Exciting Activities: From hiking, swimming, archery, mountain biking, to campfire stories under the stars, every day is packed with adventure and nature discovery.
- Personal Growth: Campers build teamwork skills, grow as individuals, and form lasting friendships while gaining a deeper connection to the natural world.

- Archery: Learn the basics of archery and test your aim as you shoot for the bullseye on our range!
- Mountain Biking: Ride thrilling trails around camp, mastering new skills and experiencing the adventure of mountain biking!
- Rock Hop: Cool off while exploring camp creeks, hopping from rock to rock and discovering fascinating creek critters and natural treasures!
- Mad Scientist: Dive into gooey, slimy experiments and unleash your inner scientist.
- Reptile Roundup: Meet live reptiles and track lizards and snakes on the trail.
- Dusk Hike: Discover the magic of crepuscular animals and enjoy the sunset from Rancho Alegre’s best vista.
- Aquatic Olympics: Belly flops, spoon dives, and synchronized silliness in a zany camp-wide competition.
- Overnight Adventure: Sleep under the stars after a campfire filled with jokes, stories, and delicious treats.
- Lake Cachuma Exploration: Rock-hop down shady creeks, explore the lake by boat, and visit its nature center.

- Fees: $800 per camper, after April 30th the cost goes up too $950. (includes a camp t-shirt)
