Glen Goddard is a 40-year professional spending his career in Outdoor Education and Camp Administration. Glen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Mary’s College of California in Moraga, CA and a Master’s degree in Outdoor Education and Recreation from the University of Oregon.

Meet Amanda, also known as Mako Shark or simply Mako! She serves as the Director for The Outdoor School. With prior experience as a naturalist for The Outdoor School, studying environmental science in college, and serving as a residential summer camp counselor during her college summers, Mako is thrilled to be back at Rancho Alegre, leading the program.

Outdoor School
The Outdoor School, a program of Los Padres Council BSA, is a unique overnight environmental education program serving the Central Coast for 50 years. The restoration of The Outdoor School is one of the driving factors behind the push to rebuild Rancho Alegre. The Outdoor School at Rancho Alegre offers 4 day, 3 night programs guiding students to extend their curriculum from textbooks to the enriching outdoor classroom experience.

Outdoor School
The Outdoor School is located across from Lake Cachuma on Highway 154 (16 miles northeast of Santa Barbara) at Rancho Alegre Boy Scout Camp. Our site includes several miles of hiking trails that meander through chaparral, streams, and oak woodland habitats surrounded by US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and California State Land.

The Outdoor School at Rancho Alegre has been using the natural world as our classroom since 1957. We are located on 217 acres of wilderness here in the Santa Ynez Mountains overlooking Lake Cachuma.
