Programs
The Outdoor School offers a wide range of programs that expose students and teachers to the wonder of our natural world. The Outdoor School offers a residential 4-day, 3-night program for 5th and 6th grade students, field trips for students from kindergarten to university, and teacher in-services.
4 Day - 3 Night
The objectives of The Outdoor School are:
- Students will gain knowledge of botany, geology, wildlife biology, astronomy, and Chumash culture through experiential learning.
- Students will gain a new understanding of their place and responsibility in our environment through hands-on activities guided by the naturalists.
- Students will acquire teamwork skills through the course of their studies.
Teacher Training
The Outdoor School offers classroom teachers the opportunity to develop their environmental education skills. From discussions about environmental education, to backyard science experiments, the teachers will expand their science understanding and develop a sense of wonder about the natural world.
